Imagine a warm spring set at the perfect temperature, awaits you. The steam gently lifts from the water dissipating into the air above. The clear blue water magnifies the surrounding flora and fauna. The lush greens of the trees and plants are sprinkled with the vibrant hues of pink, yellow, red and sterling roses. Joining the roses is the springtime scent of lavender looming through the air. Dusk is upon the scene and the evening sky has darkening shades of blue until the black hits the horizon. The stars are beginning to sparkle in all their glory. The ground is covered in a sumptuous moss that feels like a cool cloud under your feet. A rock path marks the journey towards the spring that is waiting just for you.
You disrobe and enter the water, leaving your stresses from the day behind. You suddenly don’t have a care in the world. You are completely present in this moment. Your eyes are closed and you are submerged in a pool of complete and utter repose.
Vivid blue butterflies dance above your head. They are joined by an eagle, dragonfly, and a lion, but you are not afraid, as they are your friends. Next to join the little community are your spirit guides and angels. You continue your meditative state in the spring sharing peace and tranquility with the elements and Beings that are gathered around you.
As you decide it’s time to leave, you step out of the water and the butterflies wrap a white bath sheet around you. Cinderella must have felt this way. The animals help you dress in the new clothes left for you. The sheer fitted lavender skirt and matching off the shoulder flowing top covering a purple lace bra and panty set.
This peaceful sojourn to your Garden of Eden can be visited anytime. The scene is vibrant, sensual and magical and it is all real; real in the sense of non-ordinary reality, otherwise, known as Shamanic Reality.
The Shamanic Journey has been maligned over the years. It has been looked upon as a mysterious event at best or a magical hoax that could not be possible at worst. There are those that assume that drugs are required to reach a trance state necessary for non-ordinary reality. Some are afraid that if it is true these practitioners of the Shamanic arts leave their bodies at home and their souls take off in some other dimension. While that part is true, it is not as scary as it might seem. For those that meditate, you know that you are partially in the physical room and partially somewhere else. It’s the same concept with the Shamanic Journey. You can wake up at any time. You are completely aware of what is going on around you in the real world and you are completely aware of what is going on around you in the spiritual world at the same time. You are virtually in two places at once. A teacher of mine said that the Shamanic Journey, meditation, hypnotherapy and a range of other mystical experiences are simply different flavors of the same stuff. While meditation might be considered vanilla, hypnotherapy would be chocolate and the shamanic journey is the Neapolitan you ate as a child.
On the Shamanic Journey, you meet your animal guide, spirit guide, teachers and your ancestors. You see different dimensions. Traveling across time and space is easy. An event that takes place over a day in the real world, might happen as quickly as 5 minutes in non-ordinary reality as the information can be processed much faster there, since linear time does not exist.
Have you ever wanted to fly in the sky or walk through walls? The Shamanic Journey is the answer to your desires.
Do you have a question that only your Higher Self or Spirit Guides can help you with? The Shamanic Journey opens the door to this opportunity.
How does a journey work? It can be practiced alone or with a group. It is highly recommended starting with a group as the energy in the room from so much activity will aid you with your process. Sage might be burning. A candle might be lit or if in the outdoors a campfire might be roaring. The drumming circle is formed and a leader offers the group to join him or her in shaking a rattle or beating on a drum. The beating sound helps to induce the non-ordinary trance state. The leader then offers a prayer to the various Spirit Guides while everyone rattles or rolls on their drums. Standing or sitting while this is happening is fine, but it is suggested that you close your eyes and allow your body to flow with the beat as it will. You may even begin to journey a bit while you are performing.
After the initial performance to raise the energy of the room is completed you set your intention for where you would like to go and what you would like accomplished. For a first journey your intention might be, “I am visiting Lower World to meet my Power Animal.” The intention must be specific. When I had my first journey I met one of my Power Animals and saw nothing else. The second time, I met the same animal and he took me on a tour of Lower World. I saw tall grasses by the side of a river that I rowing down in a canoe. I saw Mayan symbols and other animals. With each journey, the movies running in my head (or in my case my third eye area) have become more and more vivid. I am either offered the answers by “messages” by my guides visually or telepathically giving me a certain “knowing” that I didn’t have before. I also know that the answers might come later in a dream or I might get a message while hearing a song or listening to a friend, virtually any number of ways. The more open I am, the more readily messages will arrive.
The Shamanic experience is a true joy. As the vibrational level on this planet is rising, the changing sentiments towards these practices have found new interest in the western world. If you find yourself drawn to explore this type of experience, I recommend checking out your local bookstore’s books on the Shamanic Journey for beginners. Practical Shamanism: A Guide for Walking in Both Worlds and Shamanism as a Spiritual Practice for Daily Life are just two of the books I recommend. You can also go online and find local drumming circles under Shamanism close to your zip code.
Thank you for reading and Namaste! (The Light in me recognizes the Light in you!)
