Changing Your Story

This morning I was nearly run down by a cyclist. He didn't forewarn me that he was behind me.  He didn't excuse himself in the moment, nor did he apologize afterwards. Needless to say, my first reaction was to swear. After getting that out
of the way, I next began reliving the story. 'Why did he do that? Who was his mother to raise him to be so rude? What a creep!' My thoughts next weaved a tale of revenge.  I saw myself chasing him down the sidewalk. Of course, I was the superhero in my story, so I managed to catch up with him in mere moments. Subsequently, I would show him my prowess by proclaiming the injustice of his actions. He was the wrongdoer in this situation and I was going to tell him off.

Thankfully, another thought showed itself to me. Why was I choosing to relive this story? Why was I determined to seek out revenge, if only in my my mind? I wasn't hurting him. The only person I was hurting was me. The truth of the matter is that this guy missed me. He was a mere inch or two away from me and yet he missed me altogether. My body was fine. I wasn't injured at all. I was still able to walk and feel the Earth beneath my feet—and I felt good—cheerful, in fact.  It was a miracle! I moved from being in a place of sheer acrimony to feeling completely harmonious with the Universe—in a span of about ten seconds.

This is just one example showing how we can change the direction of each of our stories. Consider our trials an opportunity. We can choose to see the dark side of the coin, where we continuously feel the weight of the burden in our minds, bodies and Souls OR we can choose to see our innate Light. There is a miracle in every situation. A gift and a lesson is just waiting for us to step into our expansive Higher Selves.

It is time to open the gateway to our ecstatic life experiences. When we feel hit by chaotic happenings, simply stop. Take a breath. And feel whatever good is coming your way. If we remember that it's all good, it truly will be.

Thank you for reading and Namaste! (The Light in me recognizes the Light in you!)
