Later, as I was walking down the street that same afternoon, I recalled those words. As the thought lingered in my mind, I noticed a woman digging for change in her wallet for the meter. She looked up and asked if I had a quarter and in return she would give me a dollar. I had change in my hand so I happily gave it to her. I was about to tell her that offering the dollar to me was unnecessary and she should keep it, as I normally would, when I heard Louise Hay's words, "we should accept all gifts of abundance to know our worth." I smiled as I accepted the dollar and thanked her.
I laughed inwardly that her words miraculously popped into my head a moment before someone was to offer me a "gift". Once again, The Universe was trying to teach me a lesson. This time, I absorbed the information and graciously acknowledged my self-worth.
How often do we not accept gifts? When someone gives an expensive Christmas gift that we could not possibly afford to reciprocate; when someone offers to buy us lunch; when someone buys us tickets to a show. "Oh, no. You don't have to do that," is a phrase so familiar to us all. Why are we so embarrased to accept gifts? Why were we taught we are not worthy?
Of course, we learned our feelings of unworthiness from our parents. But don't blame them, they learned their feelings of unworthiness from their parents and they learned from their parents; and so it has gone like this since the beginning of time. What should we do about this conundrum? The answer is obvious. I compel everyone reading this to know your worthiness and kindly accept every offering of abundance that comes your way. You are a Being of Light. You are Perfect. Do not believe this, but KNOW this fact to be true. Then teach your children this Truth, so they can teach their children until the end of time. When you start accepting even the smallest gifts, The Universe will know that you are open to Grace and open to accepting even more offerings of abundance. There is enough for all of us...Know what you are worth!
Just to prove this point, later on in the evening, I was offered another gift. I was asked to participate in a Thai massage class as a recipient. I would not have to pay for the class, as I was the model. What a lovely gift. I gladly accepted. Thank you to The Universe! As I opened myself up to abundance, another gift was offered to me. Isn't life magic!?!
If you haven't read You Can Heal your Life, I strongly urge you to make the purchase. It's one of those books you can either read in one sitting or simply soak in a page or 2 a day. If you have an old copy of the book, I strongly encourage you to buy a newer edition. The 1999 version is filled with colorful pages and in and pictures that I found just as inspiring as the text.
Thank you for reading and Namaste (The Light in me recognizes the Light in you!)
